What: Launch of Samoa’s Agriculture Policy Bank

The Government of Samoa’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, in collaboration with the Pacific Community (SPC) will launch Samoa’s Agriculture Policy Bank during the National Agriculture Show in Apia, Samoa, providing national stakeholders with an overview of the country’s key policy documents.  

The policy bank is an initiative of the European Union (EU) supported Intra-ACP Pacific Agriculture Policy Project (PAPP) and is hosted on SPC’s Pacific Agriculture and Forestry Policy Network (http://pafpnet.spc.int/).

Clear, evidence based and accessible national agricultural policies are critical to ensure a coherent plan for government, farmers, private sector and other stakeholders to sustain rural livelihoods, food security and collectively grow the agriculture sector as well as contribute to national development.

Historically, agricultural policy documents in the Pacific have been available only in hardcopy and resource challenges often mean that these important documents have limited circulation and accessibility.

The new Samoa Agriculture Policy Bank will help make all key national agriculture policy documents accessible online; not only to national stakeholders but also international investors, development partners, researchers and other institutions.  

Translated summaries of key policy documents will also be included.
