Port Vila, Vanuatu – Vanuatu’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity, in collaboration with the Pacific Community (SPC), is organising a knowledge management workshop for senior ministry staff, based on an approach developed for Vanuatu as the principal lead in the area of agricultural and forestry policy development.

The knowledge management workshop is made possible through the European Union-supported Pacific Agriculture Policy Project, implemented by SPC and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA).

One objective of the national workshop is to identify priorities to strengthen knowledge management and communications capacity in support of Vanuatu’s policy processes, value chains and agricultural extension and research.

These priorities will support a potential national and/or ministry knowledge management action plan to foster ongoing agriculture work. The workshop will also discuss the baseline assessment of the ministry’s current knowledge environment with the hope of improving the quality of agriculture services and products.

Knowledge management gives direction to inform and educate the public on relevant agriculture developments and promotes adoption of more effective and innovative approaches to agriculture extension services and training.

Media access: Members of the media are invited to cover the entire duration of the workshop.

When: 07 – 09 March, 2016
Where: Department of Forestry Conference room, Port Vila
Time: 8.30am – 6:30pm
